HOW TO TELL IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR EXHAUST.

A few tips that everyone should be aware of that indicate there may be an issue with your vehicle exhaust.
Excessive Noise
If the exhaust suddenly starts to become noisier this can mean there is a hole in the silencer section. Increased emission gases being expelled may also be an indicator that things are not working well.

Excessive Smoke

Excessive white smoke can indicate that there is an issue with leaking antifreeze, cylinder head gasket issues or even a small hole in the engine block.
Excessive blue smoke can indicate that the system is putting burnt oil into the system. Ensure that the exhaust remains in position and that the bracket fixing the exhaust to the vehicle has not come loose.

How often should you check an exhaust?

Visual checks can also spot areas of damage or rust both of which should be investigated by a trained exhaust technician.
It is advised that this is done at least every 6 months as a visual inspection costs nothing and would only take a few minutes.
So, don’t take your exhaust inspection lightly as your safety should always be your top-most priority.

How long does it take to replace an exhaust?

Many modern exhausts are manufactured in several parts (usually up to 4 sections) and in many cases we are able to repair or replace the relevant section, in general terms it can take between 30 mins & a couple of hours dependent upon the complexity of the work, the vehicle make and model.
